The Infiniti G-series consists of compact executive cars bearing the Infiniti logo. Earlier cars in the Infiniti G-series were based on the car called the Nissan Primera, which explains the similarities between the two product lines. In contrast, the Infiniti G35 and its successors are re-badged versions of the Nissan Skyline, which is sold under the Infiniti name in Europe, North America, and a number of other regional markets. Regardless, while the Infiniti G35 has long been replaced by its successors, it remains a memorable car model for a lot of people out there, not least because of the lasting impressions that it managed to make over the course of its evolution.
2003 Infiniti G35
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Infiniti G35 bore little resemblance to its predecessor. After all, it wasn’t based on its predecessor. Instead, it was a re-badged version of the latest in a separate product line. Still, while the Infiniti G35 was something new for the fans of the Infiniti G-series, it was well-received by both the critics and the consumers in its time, as shown by how it was named the Car of the Year for 2003 by Motor Trend.
Regardless, the 2003 Infiniti G35 boasted a VQ35DE engine. Furthermore, it used a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with the result that its weight was distributed 52 percent to the front and 48 percent to the rear. The 2003 Infiniti G35 came as either a coupe or a sedan, which could come with either an automatic or a manual transmission.
2004 Infiniti G35
There were some changes introduced for the 2004 Infiniti G35. For example, a 6-speed manual transmission was introduced as a new option for the sedan version, though it is important to note that a 6-speed manual transmission had already been an option for the coupe version since the start. Furthermore, there were improvements to the engine, which were a matter of serious discussion at the time because of speculation that Nissan had been playing with the definitions used when measuring the output of the engine. With that said, the most notable occurrence at around this time might have been the introduction of the all-wheel-drive version of the Infiniti G35, which is called the Infiniti G35x. Suffice to say that said car possessed a number of differences from its counterparts, with an excellent example being its inclusion of Nissan’s Electronic Torque Split version of its ATTESA system.
2005 Infiniti G35
In 2005, the Infiniti G35 saw some interesting cosmetic changes. For example, the three colors called “Caribbean Blue,” “Twilight Blue,” and “Desert Platinum” were replaced by three other colors with three other names. Likewise, the interiors of both the coupe and the sedan versions received changes, which resulted in a new sportier look that was went particularly well with the enhanced backlighting as well as the improvement in the quality of the trimmings used for it. On top of this, playback for both MP3 and WMA was added to the CD player, while the cassette player was removed because it had become seriously out of date by that point in time. At around this time, the existing brakes were replaced by a new set of brakes with bigger discs as well as different designs for the calipers, which were meant to address serious concerns that had been raised in a class action lawsuit that was happening in the state of California because of excessive wear and tear on said component.
2006 Infiniti G35
Once again, 2006 saw further changes to the look of the Infiniti G35. Examples ranged from the new headlights and taillights to changes made elsewhere such as the front bumper. Moreover, the ability to use Bluetooth was introduced for the interior of the Infiniti G35, thus enabling the driver to make use of their phone while keeping their hands free in the process.
2007 Infiniti G35
The sedan version of the Infiniti G35 received a re-design for 2007, which resulted in a more powerful engine as well as a number of other improvements. In fact, it is important to note that the sedan version of the 2007 Infiniti G35 is actually considered to be part of the fourth generation of the Infiniti G-series.
2008 Infiniti G35
With that said, the coupe version of the Infiniti G35 received a re-design as well, though it wasn’t released until the 2008 version came out. Said car boasted a more powerful engine as well as other improvements, but by this point in time, it was clear that focus was shifting to the Infiniti G37.
